How Innovation is Impacting Poverty
6:30pm, Tuesday 17th January at St Mary-le-Bow, Cheapside
JustShare hosted a panel discussion on the power of innovation in solving some of the toughest problems humanity faces with guest speakers:
Revd. Rose Hudson-Wilkins, Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons
David Paterson, Partner at Herbet Smith Freehills and Chair of In Their Lifetime Board
Paul Valentin, Christian Aid's International Director
The world today is changing so rapidly and the role of innovation and experimentation could be the key route to transform the lives of the world's poorest 3 billion living on less than $1 a day.
Through a disruptive Innovation Fund, called In Their Lifetime, Christian Aid is pioneering a radical new approach to development that centres on innovation, enterprise and inclusive business as a more impactful way of lifting people out of poverty.
As well as showing innovation and impact at scale, In Their Lifetime is bringing together the private sector, philanthropists, technical experts and grassroots organisations to find radical new solutions to entrenched, complex problems.
This is the challenge and opportunity in our lifetime - if we can bring together innovation and business to include the bottom 3 billion in poverty, we can make a significant difference to commerce in the future to make the powerless powerful, and make the powerful more socially responsible.
