What is JustShare?

JustShare is a coalition of churches and charities committed to global development and social justice, seeking to empower the world’s poorest communities and campaigning for a just share of the world’s resources for all.

Based at St Mary-le-Bow Church, Cheapside, JustShare has a unique niche in the City of London from which both to raise awareness of global economic injustice and to co-ordinate a response to it. JustShare draws its vision and values from the Christian faith but is open to people of all faiths and none who are committed to working together for a fairer world. JustShare is run by a Steering Group of church and NGO representatives, and works closely with a number of diocesan and development networks.

Keep the developing world in the mind of the City of London, raising awareness of international development campaigns and issues of social and economic justice, and offering opportunities for positive action. All of our work seeks to:Engage with the City on questions of global development and social justice;Educate people about development and justice issues, providing a forum for dialogue and discussion which might not otherwise happen in the City context;Empower employees, institutions, churches and others in London to work together with those living in some of the world’s poorest communities to build a better world.Encourage changes in policy and practice to bring about a more just world;Establish practical projects, partnerships and networks to promote economic development and social justice;
 Hosting and organising public debates in the City on issues of economic justice and development, inviting City workers, campaigners and other interested parties to attend;Hosting and organising a series of lectures in the City on Christian Social and Political Thought, with speakers ranging from Tony Benn to the Rt Revd Richard Harries;Hosting other events in the City which promote dialogue on ethical economics and social justice, in partnership with others where we can;Promoting Fairtrade in the City; Running training seminars on finance and economics-related topics;Holding a topical campaigning festival on May Day in the heart of the City;Equipping and encouraging Christians and other to promote justice;Establishing Arcubus, a new charity encouraging the City to support and fund microfinance projects in Africa.
